Fläckig means ‘speckled, spotted’ in Swedish and descends from the Old Norse flekkr- ‘spot’. The Shaetlan cognate is fleckit, which strictly speaking means ‘spotted with dark spots on a white background’, which is the reverse of this scarf. This poetic license is a play on the long shared history of Shetland and Scandinavia. It is done entirely in knit stitches, and you'll not have to weave in any loose ends. It is knitted in JW yarn.
